A Mid-Layer Isn't an Accessory, It's Part of the System

Many skiers view a mid-layer as nothing more than a backup sweater tucked away for freezing conditions. In cross-country skiing, however, it is an absolutely vital component of your entire temperature-regulation system. If you compromise on your mid-layer, your outer jacket loses its purpose entirely.

In our range, this critical role is filled by two field-tested options:

Arestino MJ2703 (men's) / Arestina WJ2707 (women's): A technical mid-layer crafted from warm, elastic Powertherm material. It features an athletic slim fit, a durable YKK VISLON zipper, two zippered side pockets, and reflective elements. This is the ideal choice for high-output, performance-oriented skiing when you push the pace and require maximum moisture management.

Valdaoro MJ2602 (men's) / Valdaora WJ2604 (women's): Soft technical fleece with a more relaxed, casual look. It excels at a steady touring pace on the tracks, yet works equally well as a standalone piece off the snow—whether on a winter walk or relaxing in an alpine hut.

Both models boast the highest possible breathability rating in our entire collection. If exposed directly to a biting wind, they will let the breeze through—and that is entirely intentional. It is neither a defect nor a shortcoming of the fabric. A mid-layer's job is not to block wind gusts; wind protection is handled by your outer jacket. The mid-layer has a single, vital objective: instantly pull moisture away from your body and push it outward toward the shell. If it had an impenetrable windproof barrier, moisture would remain trapped underneath and cause you to overheat rapidly.
